Once upon a time, Sekondi-Takoradi was a vibrant, strategic seaport-city for the whole of West Africa. The concentration of commerce and industrial activity in the area brought with it enormous prosperity. This became the number one entertainment center in Africa for pop culture, music, nightlife, and dance.

In later years, the glamour, charm, and allure faded away. This left behind joblessness, abandoned factories, broken unattended infrastructure, and development that became stagnant. Many citizens, for far too long, have been calling for intervention to revamp economic development and infrastructure. The healthcare system had a been overwhelmed with an ever-increasing population.

The above-outlined situation called for intervention or action to restore the once-glamorous City of the West back to its former status.

In August of 2019, Madam Caroline Ewiurabena Ampah started bringing people of Sekondi-Takoradi descent and sympathizers together.

She created a common networking platform for people to exchange ideas and work together to advance the socio-economic and infrastructural development of Sekondi-Takoradi.

The concept became acceptable and attractive to many citizens all around the globe who joined the Union. It is broad-based with people of diverse professional backgrounds. These range from Professors, Doctors, Nurses, Ambassadors, Diplomats, Marine Captains, Teachers, Business Executives, and other hardworking professionals. Such like-minded people came together to form this Union called the Sekondi-Takoradi Progressive Club Global. The birth of this Club started the movement to help rebuild and restore Sekondi-Takoradi to its Old Glory.

To make it into a competent working Club, a group of talented personal were assembled to form a strong Executive Council. Their task was to administer and manage the day to day operations of the Club. In order to reinforce the foundation of the union, the Patrons Council was formed immediately after. This was composed of mainly men and women of noble age and wisdom, whose expertise and experience would be beneficial to the Club.They would serve in an advisory role. A vigorous campaign was launched to proclaim our concept and principles to the worldwide audience.
